Offerings for Ancestors and Their Stated Results
कुशस्तम्बे जुहोत्यग्निं सुवर्णे तत्र च स्थिते । वल्मीकस्य वपायां च कर्णे वाजस्य दक्षिणे
kuśastambe juhoty agniṁ suvarṇe tatra ca sthite | valmīkasya vapāyāṁ ca karṇe vājasya dakṣiṇe |
婆悉吒说道:“有人依凭吠陀之权威,向其所认定的‘阿耆尼之真形’而行供献——纵使火被点于非常之处:在库沙草丛或草茎之上,在其上所置之黄金上,在蚁丘之孔内,或在山羊右耳之上。若以对经典证言之信受而如法成就其仪,则火神阿耆尼被说为受享其供,并生起能致兴盛的欢悦。”
वसिष्ठ उवाच
That the validity and fruit of a Vedic rite depend on śāstric authorization and correct ritual intention; even atypical ritual loci can be treated as Agni’s form when grounded in Vedic testimony and performed properly.
Vasiṣṭha explains that some practitioners, trusting Vedic proof, perform homa by recognizing Agni’s presence in various unusual supports (kuśa-clump, gold, anthill opening, goat’s right ear), and that upon completion Agni is pleased and grants prosperity.
