Gopradāna-Māhātmya: Inquiry into Goloka
uvāca dharmarājānaṃ nirviṇṇo 'dhyayanena vai | yo me kālo bhavec cheṣas taṃ vaseyam ihācyuta ||
The verse highlights a dharmic orientation to life’s final phase: even when one becomes weary of study or formal discipline, one can choose to spend the remaining time in a stable, righteous setting, emphasizing steadfastness (acyuta) and purposeful residence rather than restlessness.
In Bhīṣma’s narration, a Brahmin—tired from study—responds to Dharmarāja’s instruction or invitation by declaring that whatever time remains in his life, he will stay there, addressing the king as ‘Acyuta,’ i.e., unwavering from dharma.
