Adhyāya 57: Tapas–Dāna Phala
On the Fruits of Austerity and Giving
प्रीतो5स्मि तव राजेन्द्र वरश्न प्रतिगृह्मताम् । “राजन! अब मुझे विदा दो। मैं जैसे आया था, वैसे ही लौट जाऊँगा। राजेन्द्र! मैं तुमपर बहुत प्रसन्न हूँ; अतः तुम कोई वर माँगो”
bhīṣma uvāca | prīto ’smi tava rājendra varaś ca pratigṛhyatām |
毗湿摩说道:“罗阇因陀罗啊,我甚为悦你;因此,受我一愿。大王,请准我此刻告辞;我将如来时一般归去。”
भीष्म उवाच
A righteous ruler earns the goodwill of elders; such approval is expressed through a boon. The moment also models dharmic closure—after guidance and due honor, one takes leave without attachment.
Bhishma addresses the king, declares his satisfaction, offers him a boon to accept, and asks permission to depart, indicating he will return in the same manner as he arrived.
