Adhyāya 57: Tapas–Dāna Phala
On the Fruits of Austerity and Giving
nahi te vṛjinaṃ kiṃcit susūkṣmam api vidyate |
Sincere service and proper reverence toward a worthy elder/teacher is presented as ethically purifying; the ideal disciple is one in whom no trace of wrongdoing can be found, even at the subtlest level.
Bhīṣma addresses the listener (a ‘son’ in affectionate address), commending him for correct attendance and honoring of Bhīṣma, and declares that the listener has committed no offence whatsoever.
