तत्पाणिग्रहणात् पूर्वमन्तरं यत्र वर्तते । सर्वमड्रलमन्त्रं वै मृषावादस्तु पातक:
tat-pāṇigrahaṇāt pūrvam antaraṃ yatra vartate | sarva-maṅgala-mantraṃ vai mṛṣāvādas tu pātakaḥ ||
毗湿摩说：若在正式执取新娘之手（pāṇigrahaṇa）之前出现间隔或阻碍——即便吉祥仪式与咒辞已行——而将女子改嫁于另一位合宜的新郎，则施与者（监护人）所负者，仅为失信妄语之罪。
