प्रसिद्ध भाषितं दाने नैषां प्रत्यायकं पुन: । ये मन्यन्ते क्रयं शुल्क न ते धर्मविदो नरा:
bhīṣma uvāca | prasiddhaṃ bhāṣitaṃ dāne naiṣāṃ pratyāyakaṃ punaḥ | ye manyante krayaṃ śulkaṃ na te dharmavido narāḥ |
毗湿摩说道：“在施与之事上——尤其是嫁女之施——世间有一句众所周知的话：人人都称之为‘赠女’。因此，那些把婚姻仅凭费用或买价便算成立的人，并无任何可靠凭据足以证成其说。把‘购买’与‘聘价’奉为权威的人，并非通晓正法之士。”
