Vipula’s Yogic Protection of the Guru’s Household (विपुलस्य योगरक्षा / Vipulasya Yogarakṣā)
भीष्म उवाच एवमुक्ताथ सा वित्रं प्रत्युवाचाथ नारदम् । विषये सति वक्ष्यामि समर्थ मन्यसे च माम्
bhīṣma uvāca evam uktātha sā vitraṃ pratyuvācātha nāradam | viṣaye sati vakṣyāmi samarthaṃ manyase ca mām ||
毗湿摩说:那罗陀如此说罢,她便答道:“若此事适宜言说,且你认为我堪当其任,我必定如实告知。”
भीष्म उवाच
Speech should be guided by propriety (whether the topic is fit to be disclosed) and by competence/authorization (whether the speaker is deemed capable). The verse models ethical restraint: one speaks when the matter is appropriate and one’s capacity is acknowledged.
Bhishma narrates that after Narada speaks, the apsaras Pañcacūḍā responds respectfully, agreeing to answer—provided the subject is suitable to be spoken and Narada considers her qualified to explain it.
