tataḥ sa labdhvā tāṃ bhāryāṃ varuṇaṃ prāha dharmavit | utathyaḥ sumahātejā yat tac chṛṇu narādhipa ||
于是,重得其妻之后,通达法义、光威赫奕的优陀提耶(Utathya)对伐楼那开口说道:“大王,请听他所言。”
अजुन उवाच
The verse signals that the coming speech is to be evaluated through dharma: even powerful beings like Varuṇa are answerable to moral law, and rightful relationships (such as marriage) must be respected and restored.
Arjuna narrates that Utathya has recovered his wife and now speaks directly to Varuṇa; the king is asked to listen to Utathya’s words, which will explain or admonish Varuṇa’s conduct.
