अध्याय १६ — शङ्कर-उमा-वरदानम् तथा तण्डि-स्तुतिः (Śaṅkara–Umā Boon-Granting and Taṇḍi’s Hymn)
इति तण्डिस्तपोयोगात् परमात्मानमव्ययम् | चिन्तयित्वा महात्मानमिदमाह सुविस्मित:,इस तरह तण्डिने तपस्यामें संलग्न होकर अविनाशी परमात्मा महामना शिवका चिन्तन करके अत्यन्त विस्मित हो इस प्रकार कहा था--
iti taṇḍis tapoyogāt paramātmānam avyayam | cintayitvā mahātmānam idam āha suvismitaḥ ||
于是,檀提(Taṇḍi)沉浸于苦行与瑜伽定观之中,默念那不坏的至上自性——大魂的湿婆主。满怀惊异,他便说出了如下言辞。
वायुदेव उवाच
The verse highlights that sustained tapas and yogic focus can lead the seeker to contemplate the imperishable Supreme Reality (here identified with Śiva), and that genuine spiritual encounter naturally evokes humility and wonder before one speaks or acts.
Vāyudeva narrates that the sage Taṇḍi, after engaging in austerities and meditative discipline, contemplated the imperishable Supreme Self—Śiva—and, overwhelmed with amazement, began to speak the next statement.
