The verse emphasizes reverence for the divine order by naming major deities and Śiva’s powerful retinue. Ethically, it reminds the listener that true authority and protection rest with the gods, and that human pride in strength should yield to humility and devotion.
Bhīṣma is listing divine beings—Śiva (as Bhava/Hara) and his attendants, along with Viṣṇu, Jiṣṇu, and Skanda with Ambikā—within a broader discourse that catalogues sacred figures and their might, reinforcing the religious and moral framework of his instruction.
