Kīrtana for the Removal of Impurity

The verse teaches ahiṃsā in a practical ethical form: a righteous person does not intimidate or harm creatures even through minor coercion (rope, stick, clods) or overt violence (weapons). True dharma is marked by gentle, blameless action and steadfast compassion.
Śrīmahēśvara (Mahādeva) is speaking within Anuśāsana Parva’s instruction on dharma, describing the qualities of a compassionate, self-controlled person. The focus is on conduct toward all beings—avoiding fear, injury, and harshness—as a hallmark of virtue.
