Kīrtana for the Removal of Impurity
devi! eṣa manuṣyaḥ svayaṃ kṛtakarmaphalānusāreṇa manuṣyeṣu tathā jāti-bandhuṣu nīcaḥ saṃjñāyate, sarve ca lokāḥ tasmin dveṣaṃ kurvanti. aparaḥ sarvabhūtāni dayāvān anupaśyati; maitradṛṣṭiḥ pitṛsamo nirvairo niyatendriyaḥ.
The passage contrasts two moral types: one whose harmful conduct makes him despised even by his own kin, and the compassionate, non-violent, self-restrained person who treats all beings as friends and earns trust; such virtue leads to heavenly attainment.
Śrī Maheśvara instructs Devī by describing the social and spiritual consequences of behavior: cruelty and hostility bring disgrace and hatred, while mercy, harmlessness, and restraint bring esteem and the reward of Svarga with a divine mode of existence.
