Educational Q&A

Righteous conduct (dharma) is said to lead to birth in an exalted family and noble lineage; Mahādeva presents this as an authoritative teaching originally proclaimed by the Creator (Brahmā).

Śiva (Śrīmaheśvara) is instructing the listener on dharma, emphasizing its fruits and grounding his statement in the prior authority of Vidhātṛ (Brahmā).
