Educational Q&A

The verse highlights dhārmic etiquette: a righteous ruler shows humility and reverence—standing up, honouring elders, and venerating spiritual authority. Ethical kingship is expressed through respect, not mere power.

On seeing Bṛhaspati, King Yudhiṣṭhira rises, places Dhṛtarāṣṭra at the front as a mark of honour, and performs an exceptional act of worship; the entire assembly follows suit.
