Tapas-śreṣṭhatā: Anāśana as the Highest Austerity

वाजपेयेषु दशसु प्रादां तेष्वपि चाप्यहम् । इनके अतिरिक्त भी जो वस्तुएँ वेदोंमें दक्षिणाके अवयवरूपसे बतायी गयी हैं, उन सबको मैंने दस वाजपेय यज्ञोंका अनुष्ठान करके दान किया था
vājapeyeṣu daśasu prādāṃ teṣv api cāpy aham |
婆祇罗他（Bhagīratha）说道：“我曾举行十次婆阇佩耶祭（Vājapeya），并在其中行施；且在诸祭之中，我亦尽数布施《吠陀》所说属于达克希那（dakṣiṇā，祭礼酬献）之诸组成物。”此言彰显：布施当依经典而行，务求圆满，不可有所缺略。
