Gautama–Śakra Saṃvāda: Karma, Loka-bheda, and the Restoration of the Elephant

गौतम उवाच श्वेतं करेणुं मम पुत्र हि नागं य॑ मेडहार्षीदेशवर्षाणि बालम्‌ | यो मे वने वसतो< भूद्‌ द्वितीय- स्तमेव मे देहि सुरेन्द्र नागम्‌

gautama uvāca—śvetaṃ kareṇuṃ mama putra hi nāgaṃ ya medhārṣīdeśavarṣāṇi bālam | yo me vane vasato bhūd dvitīyas tam eva me dehi surendra nāgam ||

乔多摩说道:“噢,因陀罗!这头白象——正是我的儿子——虽已长成少年之象,却仍不过十岁。在林中与我同住时,他如同我的第二个自我,是同伴,也是助力。你将他带走了;因此,诸天之主啊,请把那同一头象归还于我。”
