Āloka-dāna (Dīpa-dāna), Sumanas–Dhūpa–Dīpa Phala: Manu–Suvarṇa and Śukra–Bali Exempla
sadyaḥ prīṇāti devān vai te prītā bhāvayanty uta | saṅkalpasiddhā martyānām īpsitaiś ca manoramaiḥ ||
A small act of reverent offering (such as flowers) quickly pleases the gods; in response, the gods promote human welfare by granting desired and pleasing outcomes. The verse emphasizes reciprocal harmony between human devotion and the divine order.
Śukra is instructing about the efficacy of worship: offerings made to the gods bring immediate satisfaction to them, and their satisfaction results in tangible benefits for mortals—fulfillment of wishes and enjoyable, beneficial gains.
