Jaratkāru’s Marital Compact and Departure (जरत्कारु–जरत्कारुणी संवादः)
त॑ दग्ध्वा स नगं॑ नाग: काश्यपं पुनरब्रवीत् । कुरु यत्नं द्विजश्रेष्ठ जीवयैनं वनस्पतिम्,इस प्रकार उस वृक्षको जलाकर नागराज पुन: काश्यपसे बोला--'द्विजश्रेष्ठ] अब तुम यत्न करो और इस वृक्षको जिला दो”
taṁ dagdhvā sa nagaṁ nāgaḥ kāśyapaṁ punar abravīt | kuru yatnaṁ dvijaśreṣṭha jīvayainaṁ vanaspatim ||
焚尽那树之后,蛇王又对迦叶波说道:“噢,最尊贵的二生者,如今你且用力——使这株树复活吧。”
काश्यप उवाच
Power that can destroy also carries the duty to repair; true dharma requires restraint, accountability, and compassion, not mere display of strength.
A serpent burns a tree and then challenges/requests the sage Kāśyapa to exert himself and bring the tree back to life, setting up a test of spiritual capability and ethical responsibility.
