The verse links birth, naming, and identity to a moral-educational ideal: true stature is established through disciplined study and mastery of sacred knowledge (Vedas and Vedāṅgas), which traditionally underpins dharma and social responsibility.
Vaiśampāyana narrates Droṇa’s extraordinary birth from a vessel associated with a wise sage, explains how this origin gives him his name, and notes his comprehensive education in the Vedas and their auxiliary sciences.
