evaṃ sarveṣu pātreṣu dāpayeccandanaṃ tathā karpūraṃ ca yathānyāyaṃ puṣpāṇi vividhāni ca
如是,应依仪则于一切供器中安置檀香与龙脑;并依正法,亦当奉献种种花鬘诸华。
Suta Goswami (narrating Shiva-puja vidhi within the Linga Purana discourse)
It specifies essential upachāras (devotional offerings)—sandalwood, camphor, and varied flowers—emphasizing orderly, rule-based worship that purifies the mind of the pashu and turns it toward Pati (Shiva).
Shiva-tattva is approached here as Pati who is honored through śuddha-bhakti expressed in tangible offerings; the regulated act of offering signifies the soul’s movement from pāśa-bound distraction toward reverent alignment with the Lord.
A practical Shiva-puja vidhi: preparing all ritual vessels and offering fragrant substances (candana, karpūra) and diverse flowers as part of disciplined upachāra, supporting inner steadiness akin to puja-based sādhanā in the Pāśupata-oriented path.
