Narrator (Purana narrator describing the event; the next speech is by Lord Damodara/Vishnu)
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: shanta
It presents the Supreme as a responsive, conscious Lord (Bhagavan) who is not merely abstract but capable of direct self-manifestation and grace when approached through disciplined tapas.
Tapas (austerity) is highlighted as a core yogic discipline—self-restraint and sustained spiritual effort—that culminates in divine prīti (favor) and darśana (direct encounter).
Though explicitly Vaishnava in iconography (conch, discus, mace), the verse supports the Kurma Purana’s synthesis by treating tapas—central to Shaiva/Pashupata discipline—as equally efficacious for attaining Vishnu’s direct grace.
