Dakṣa’s Daughters, Cosmic Lineages, and the Population of the Three Worlds
marutvāṁś ca jayantaś ca marutvatyā babhūvatuḥ jayanto vāsudevāṁśa upendra iti yaṁ viduḥ
In this verse, Upendra is identified as Jayanta, who is described as a partial expansion (aṁśa) of Vāsudeva (Lord Viṣṇu).
While narrating the genealogies connected with Dakṣa’s descendants, Śukadeva highlights that among the progeny there are also divinely empowered beings—Jayanta being known as Upendra, an aṁśa of Vāsudeva.
It reinforces the Bhāgavata theme that the Lord’s presence and empowerment appear within history and family lines, inspiring devotees to see divine purpose behind life’s unfolding relationships and responsibilities.
