Diti’s Puṁsavana Vow, Indra’s Intervention, and the Birth of the Maruts
evaṁ striyā jaḍībhūto vidvān api manojñayā bāḍham ity āha vivaśo na tac citraṁ hi yoṣiti
This verse states that even a learned person can become mentally dulled and helpless before strong attraction, showing the need for vigilance, self-control, and dharmic restraint.
In the narrative, Diti presses Kaśyapa for a boon at an inauspicious time, and Śukadeva explains how powerful attraction can make even the wise comply, setting up the consequences that follow.
Guard the senses, avoid compromising situations, and make major decisions based on dharma and clarity rather than impulse—strengthening the mind through sādhana, prayer, and disciplined habits.
