Paraśurāma Avenges Jamadagni; Restoration Through Sacrifice; Viśvāmitra’s Line and Devarāta (Śunaḥśepha)
te duḥkha-roṣāmarṣārti- śoka-vega-vimohitāḥ hā tāta sādho dharmiṣṭha tyaktvāsmān svar-gato bhavān
It portrays how intense sorrow can surge together with anger and confusion, leaving people bewildered—yet still remembering the departed as saintly and righteous.
Jamadagni is addressed by his sons, who lament that their righteous father has “gone to heaven” after being killed.
It validates the natural wave of emotions after loss while reminding us to honor the departed’s virtues, gradually moving from bewilderment toward steadiness in dharma.
