This verse describes the clans turning against one another, abandoning friendship; in the chapter’s narrative, their mutual quarrel fulfills the Lord’s arrangement for the Yadus’ disappearance from the earth.
Śukadeva Gosvāmī speaks this verse to Mahārāja Parīkṣit while narrating the final pastimes surrounding Śrī Kṛṣṇa’s departure and the Yadus’ end.
When envy and intoxication of group-identity arise, even close communities can collapse; preserving sādhana, humility, and reconciliation protects relationships from self-destructive conflict.
