The Slaying of Narakāsura (Bhaumāsura), Rescue of the Princesses, and the Pārijāta Episode Begins
śrī-rājovāca yathā hato bhagavatā bhaumo yene ca tāḥ striyaḥ niruddhā etad ācakṣva vikramaṁ śārṅga-dhanvanaḥ
In this verse, King Parīkṣit specifically asks to hear how the Supreme Lord killed Bhauma (Narakāsura) and requests a description of Kṛṣṇa’s heroic exploits.
Because Narakāsura had confined many women, and Parīkṣit wants to understand both the Lord’s victory over the demon and the deliverance of those captives as part of Kṛṣṇa’s līlā.
Hearing and reflecting on Kṛṣṇa’s protection of the oppressed strengthens faith, inspires courage against injustice, and deepens devotion through śravaṇa (attentive hearing).
