Uddhava Meets the Gopīs: Bhramara-gītā and Kṛṣṇa’s Message of Separation

इति गोप्यो हि गोविन्दे गतवाक्‍कायमानसा: । कृष्णदूते समायाते उद्धवे त्यक्तलौकिका: ॥ ९ ॥ गायन्त्य: प्रियकर्माणि रुदन्त्यश्च गतह्रिय: । तस्य संस्मृत्य संस्मृत्य यानि कैशोरबाल्ययो: ॥ १० ॥

就这样说着,那些将言语、身体与心意全然奉献给主Govinda的牧女们,因克里希纳的使者圣乌达婆来到,便放下了一切世间事务。她们反复追忆挚爱克里希纳在童年与少年时的种种戏行,歌咏其事,亦不顾羞怯而哭泣。

The word bālyayoḥ here indicates that ever since their childhood, the gopīs had been completely in love with Kṛṣṇa. Thus even though social custom dictated that they not reveal their love to others, they forgot all external considerations and openly wept before Kṛṣṇa’s messenger, Uddhava.

Because Uddhava came as Kṛṣṇa’s dūta (messenger), and their longing for Kṛṣṇa overpowered all external etiquette; their lives were centered only on Govinda.

Align thoughts with remembrance, speech with kīrtana and truthful kindness, and actions with service—so devotion becomes the priority over mere social approval.
