Kṛṣṇa Enters Mathurā: City Splendor, Devotees’ Reception, and the Washerman’s Fate
तमपृच्छद्धृषीकेश: किं ते दृष्टमिवाद्भुतम् । भूमौ वियति तोये वा तथा त्वां लक्षयामहे ॥ ३ ॥
tam apṛcchad dhṛṣīkeśaḥ kiṁ te dṛṣṭam ivādbhutam bhūmau viyati toye vā tathā tvāṁ lakṣayāmahe
赫利希凯沙问他:“你是在地上、空中,还是水中见到了什么奇妙之事吗?从你的神色看来,我们以为你确已见到。”
In this verse, Kṛṣṇa notices unusual, awe-filled behavior in the person before Him and asks what extraordinary vision or experience has caused it—showing how contact with the divine can overwhelm one with wonder.
Within the narrative of Akrūra’s coming to Vraja, the visitor becomes emotionally transformed by devotion and vision of the Lord; Kṛṣṇa, observing these signs, inquires about the cause of his astonishment.
Cultivate attentive awareness of spiritual transformation—when devotion, prayer, or sacred study changes your mind and senses, acknowledge it and deepen your practice rather than ignoring the inner awakening.
