Akrūra’s Mission: The Departure from Vraja and the Yamunā Vision of Viṣṇu-Ananta
śrī-gopya ūcuḥ aho vidhātas tava na kvacid dayā saṁyojya maitryā praṇayena dehinaḥ tāṁś cākṛtārthān viyunaṅkṣy apārthakaṁ vikrīḍitaṁ te ’rbhaka-ceṣṭitaṁ yathā
This verse shows the gopīs’ intense viraha: separation feels unbearable and even “cruel,” yet it reveals the deepest attachment to Krishna, where life’s arrangements are seen only in relation to Him.
Because Providence brings souls together in loving bonds and then separates them before their longing is fulfilled—mirroring the gopīs’ pain as Krishna departs, making them feel the universe is arranged without compassion.
It encourages channeling grief into sincere remembrance and prayer: instead of becoming cynical, one can deepen spiritual focus, recognizing that longing can refine love and dependence on the Divine.
