No ritual or technical vidyā is taught here; the verse functions as a genealogical record, listing successive descendants in a royal lineage.
By preserving dynastic succession data (vamśāvalī), it adds historical-cultural indexing to the Purana’s wide-ranging compendium—alongside ritual, polity, medicine, and arts—serving as a reference map of names and lineages.
Genealogical remembrance supports Purāṇic śravaṇa-smaraṇa (hearing and recollection) of righteous lineages and continuity of dharma; it is presented as merit-bearing knowledge that anchors tradition and exemplary ancestry.
