FAQs

It gives Vāstu-śāstra specifications for constructing doorway components (kapola, padikā), defining three openings, and ensuring strong corner-joints (koṇa-bandha) with a three-fold fastening and a firm double-leaf door.

Beyond theology, it preserves practical architectural engineering norms—terminology for doorway parts, structural fastening methods, and durability standards—showing the text’s coverage of applied sciences like Vāstu alongside ritual and myth.

In Vāstu thought, correct construction and firm, well-aligned entrances support auspiciousness, stability, and the unobstructed flow of sacred order (ṛta) in a dwelling or temple, reducing doṣa (defects) attributed to faulty building.
