It prescribes a specific prayāścitta: if one carelessly drinks water after urination while on the road, purification is achieved by observing a day-and-night period and then applying/consuming pañcagavya.
Beyond theology, the Agni Purana catalogs practical dharma topics—cleanliness (śauca), accidental impurity, and standardized expiations—functioning like a ritual-legal manual alongside its many other disciplines.
It frames inadvertent negligence (smṛtibhraṃśa) as correctable through regulated austerity and a purificatory rite, restoring ritual fitness and reducing the karmic fault of carelessness.
