Lord Agni (in discourse to sage Vasiṣṭha, typical Agni Purāṇa narration frame)
Primary Rasa: karuna
Secondary Rasa: shanta
Sandhi Resolution Notes: pūrvavacchāntyai = pūrvavat + śāntyai; muṇḍikārtis = muṇḍikā-ārtiḥ; tacceṣṭāsṛkśravaḥ = tat + ceṣṭā-sṛk-śravaḥ; śaśvatkuryām = śaśvat + kuryām.
It prescribes Bhūta-vidyā/Mātṛkā-śānti protocol: begin with purificatory preliminaries (snāna, etc.) and then perform Mātṛ-cikitsā when specific graha-type symptoms (Muṇḍikā-affliction, abnormal movements, bleeding) are present.
It shows the text blending medicine and ritual: clinical symptom-grouping (pain, abnormal motor activity, bleeding) is treated through a combined therapeutic and appeasement framework (Mātṛ-cikitsā), illustrating Agni Purāṇa’s coverage of Ayurveda/Bhūta-vidyā alongside śānti-karmas.
By starting with purification and performing Mātṛ-related pacification, the practitioner aims to remove affliction attributed to subtle forces (grahas/Mātṛs), restoring bodily and ritual purity and reducing harmful karmic/inauspicious influence.
