Ayurvedic pharmaceutics: a specific oral bolus (piṇḍa) recipe and its administration time (pūrvāhṇa) to pacify sarva-śūla (all colic/pain), using recognized digestive and vāta-pacifying drugs like hiṅgu and viḍaṅga.
It exemplifies the Agni Purana’s multi-disciplinary scope by embedding practical Ayurvedic therapeutics—drug selection, dosage-form (bolus), and timing—within a Purāṇic text otherwise known for ritual, dharma, and cultural instruction.
By promoting healing and relief of suffering through dhārmic, tradition-sanctioned medicine, the instruction aligns with purificatory living (śuddhācāra) and compassionate duty (dayā), supporting bodily steadiness conducive to sādhana and worship.
