Related Themes: Agni Purana: sections distinguishing nitya/naimittika karma; homa-vidhi; saṅkalpa and samarpana formulas
It prescribes the ritual sequence: perform homa (offerings into Agni), maintain the nitya (daily) observance, then pray and bow to the deity, formally dedicate the rite (karma-samarpaṇa), and proceed with naimittika (occasion-specific) pūjā.
By codifying practical liturgical procedure—classifying duties into nitya and naimittika and giving an actionable order of performance—it exemplifies the Agni Purana’s wide-ranging manual-like guidance on ritual, conduct, and religious practice.
Dedicating the act to the deity and concluding with prayer and reverence frames the ritual as devotional service rather than mere formality, supporting purification of intent and the accrual of religious merit through properly offered worship.
