Chapter 33 — पवित्रारोहणविधानं
The Procedure for Pavitrārohaṇa / Installing the Sacred Thread or Consecratory Amulet
गणश् च तासु पूज्यो ऽथ इति ङ, चिह्नितपुस्तकपाठः रक्ष रक्ष प्रध्वंसय कवचायेति ङ, चिह्नितपुस्तकपाठः ॐ ह्रीमिति ख, चिह्नितपुस्तकपाठः मृगः शशो ऽथ वृषभः कूर्मो हंसस्ततो वहिः पृश्निगर्भः कुमुदाद्या द्वारपाला द्वयं द्वयं
gaṇaś ca tāsu pūjyo 'tha iti ṅa, cihnitapustakapāṭhaḥ rakṣa rakṣa pradhvaṃsaya kavacāyeti ṅa, cihnitapustakapāṭhaḥ oṃ hrīmiti kha, cihnitapustakapāṭhaḥ mṛgaḥ śaśo 'tha vṛṣabhaḥ kūrmo haṃsastato vahiḥ pṛśnigarbhaḥ kumudādyā dvārapālā dvayaṃ dvayaṃ
并且在其中应礼拜“伽那”(Gaṇa,即象头神Gaṇeśa);此为有标记之抄本所载读法。“护持,护持;摧毁(一切障碍)——为护甲咒(kavaca)故”:此为有标记之抄本所载读法。“唵 hrīm”:此为有标记之抄本所载读法。作为门卫,诸入口处皆两两安置:鹿、兔、公牛、龟、天鹅;其后为Vahi;又有Pṛśnigarbha、Kumuda等诸者——皆成双而立。

It gives a kavaca-style protective formula (including the bīja “hrīm”) and prescribes paired dvārapālas (door-guardians) to be stationed/visualized at entrances, with Gaṇeśa worship placed as an obstacle-removing prerequisite.
Alongside narrative material, the Agni Purana preserves applied ritual technology—mantra variants from different manuscript readings and practical temple/ritual instructions such as guardian-deity enumerations and protective kavaca usage.
Kavaca-recitation and dvārapāla placement are intended to remove obstacles, avert harm, and purify the ritual space; worship of Gaṇeśa and use of bīja-mantras are framed as ensuring successful completion (siddhi) of worship with protective merit.
