Explanation of the Rite of Initiation
शुद्धं तत्त्वं समुद्धृत्य पूर्णाहुत्या तु देशिकः सन्नयेद्द्विपरे तत्त्वे यावदव्याहृतं क्रमात्
śuddhaṃ tattvaṃ samuddhṛtya pūrṇāhutyā tu deśikaḥ sannayeddvipare tattve yāvadavyāhṛtaṃ kramāt
Lord Agni (in dialogue with sage Vasiṣṭha, typical Agni Purāṇa frame)
Vidya Category: {"primary_vidya":"Tantra","secondary_vidya":"Mantra","practical_application":"Tattva-nyāsa/laya in ritual: the ācārya uses pūrṇāhuti to reabsorb purified principles into successive paired tattvas up to the ‘Avyāhṛta’ level, completing inner cosmological withdrawal.","sutra_style":true}
Encyclopedic Reference: {"reference_type":"Procedure","entry_title":"Pūrṇāhuti-based tattva-sannayana up to Avyāhṛta","lookup_keywords":["purnahuti","tattva-nyasa","sannayana","krama","avyahrta"],"quick_summary":"After purifying and ‘raising’ a tattva, the officiant performs the full concluding oblation to settle it into the next successive (paired) tattva, proceeding stepwise until the Avyāhṛta stage—marking completion of inner reabsorption."}
Concept: Krama-laya: systematic reabsorption of principles culminating in a subtler, unuttered (avyāhṛta) level.
Application: As a closing practice, coordinate outer pūrṇāhuti with inner withdrawal: mentally ‘hand over’ each tattva into its source in a fixed order to seal the rite and stabilize meditative absorption.
Khanda Section: Puja-vidhi / Agni-vidya (Tantric ritual procedure for offerings and tattva-nyasa)
Primary Rasa: adbhuta
Secondary Rasa: shanta

It teaches the pūrṇāhuti-based completion step where the deśika ritually withdraws and merges purified tattvas sequentially into higher/successive tattvas, culminating at the subtle ‘Avyāhṛta’ stage.
It preserves a precise, technical ritual algorithm (krama) for homa completion and tattva-management—showing the Agni Purana functioning as a practical handbook of pūjā-vidhi and tantric ritual theory alongside its many other subjects.
By completing the rite with pūrṇāhuti and orderly tattva-laya, the practitioner’s ritual field is sealed and purified, supporting inner absorption (laya) and reducing ritual defects (doṣa) through proper completion.
