FAQs

It teaches the correct sequencing of initiation: the disciple is to be initiated only after performing adhivāsa according to rule, and it notes specific ritual implements (instrument, cutting tool, powders, chalk) used for marking, handling, or procedural steps during dīkṣā.

Beyond theology, it preserves practical liturgical details—step-order and material culture of rites (tools, powders, marking substances)—showing the Agni Purana’s role as a procedural handbook for temple and Tantric-style initiation practices.

By insisting on ‘yathā-nyāya’ (rule-based) adhivāsa before dīkṣā, the verse frames initiation as a purified, correctly empowered transition—protecting the rite’s efficacy and the disciple’s spiritual qualification through proper consecration.
