Vidya Category: {"primary_vidya":"Philosophy","secondary_vidya":"Cosmology","practical_application":"Meditative contemplation (dhyāna) on Prakṛti as the causal matrix of cosmic emanation and dissolution, using tattva-differentiation as a contemplative map.","sutra_style":true}

Encyclopedic Reference: {"reference_type":"Definition","entry_title":"Prakṛti as source and dissolution-ground of the universe (tattva-process differentiation)","lookup_keywords":["prakṛti","sṛṣṭi-laya","tattva-viveka","saṅkhya","prakriyā-bheda"],"quick_summary":"Contemplate Prakṛti as that into which the cosmos resolves and from which it arises, understood through the differentiated processes/modes by which manifestation unfolds."}

Concept: Prakṛti as upādāna-kāraṇa (material cause) in Sāṅkhya cosmology; manifestation via prakriyā-bheda (functional differentiations).

Application: Use tattva-viveka to stabilize meditation: trace arising (sṛṣṭi) and return (laya) mentally to reduce identification with transient forms.

FAQs

It imparts tattva-vicāra (metaphysical discernment) as a meditative method: contemplate Prakṛti as the material matrix responsible for both cosmic emanation (sṛṣṭi) and dissolution (laya), understood through its differentiated modes of operation.

Beyond ritual and dharma, the Agni Purana also preserves philosophical systems; this verse reflects Sankhya-style cosmology and yogic contemplation, showing the text’s coverage of metaphysics alongside practical traditions.

Contemplating the source and dissolution of the cosmos steadies the mind in detachment and discernment, supporting inner purification and reducing identification with transient phenomena.
