This verse imparts vamśa-anukramaṇī (genealogical knowledge): a precise succession of named descendants used for Purāṇic historiography and lineage mapping.
By cataloguing dynastic sequences and notable progeny (e.g., Śibi), it preserves historical-memory frameworks alongside the Agni Purana’s other domains (ritual, polity, medicine, architecture), functioning like a reference index for Purāṇic lineages.
Remembering and reciting Purāṇic lineages is traditionally treated as smṛti-saṃrakṣaṇa (preservation of sacred memory), supporting dharma through continuity of righteous exemplars and strengthening śraddhā in Purāṇic tradition.
