yasmāccaturvidhā sṛṣṭirjīvānāṃ brahmaṇā kṛtā | jarāyujāṃḍajodbhijja svedajāśca tathā smṛtāḥ

Vì Phạm Thiên (Brahmā) đã tạo lập loài hữu tình thành bốn hạng: thai sinh, noãn sinh, thấp sinh (từ ẩm), và thực vật sinh (từ mầm đất) — như truyền tụng xưa nay.
