Skanda Purana — Prabhasa Khanda, Shloka 26

तद्वयं तानि सर्वाणि गृहीत्वा च व्यवस्थिताः । लोकस्य रक्षणार्थाय संज्ञेयं तेन लोकपाः

tadvayaṃ tāni sarvāṇi gṛhītvā ca vyavasthitāḥ | lokasya rakṣaṇārthāya saṃjñeyaṃ tena lokapāḥ

Vì thế, chúng ta đã tiếp nhận tất cả những vũ khí ấy và đứng vững sẵn sàng thi hành bổn phận, một lòng hộ trì thế gian; do đó chúng ta được gọi là Lokapāla, những vị Hộ Thế, người gìn giữ các cõi.
