Scene: Jāmbavatī, serene and auspicious, gathers her husband’s ashes and the pyre’s remnants, walks to the roaring ocean, and steps into the waves; her form dissolves into a flowing river-current entering the sea.
The Purāṇas portray sacred waters as embodiments of virtue, making remembrance and reverence toward them a form of dharma.
The Jāmbavatī river and its oceanward sacred course within the Prabhāsa region.
