ṛṣaya ūcuḥ | yadi pratyupakārāya manyase tvaṃ dvijottama | gṛhaṃ kuruṣva no vākyāddevasya parameṣṭhinaḥ
Ṛṣis (the sages)
Type: kshetra
Listener: Mṛkaṇḍa (dvijottama)
Scene: The sages issue a directive; Mṛkaṇḍa receives it with reverence; the envisioned ‘abode of Parameṣṭhin’ appears as a sanctum being founded—ritual ground-breaking, altar lines, and a rising shrine.
Gratitude becomes dharma when it is expressed through lasting sacred works—establishing a deity’s abode for public merit.
A tīrtha in Nāgarakhaṇḍa where Parameṣṭhin/Pitāmaha is to be established, forming the basis for the site’s later fame.
Construction/establishment of a divine abode (gṛha) for Parameṣṭhin—an implicit prescription for temple-making and consecratory intent.
