ब्रह्मोवाच । परितुष्टोऽस्मि ते वत्स वरं वरय सुव्रत । तुष्टोऽहं ते प्रदास्यामि यद्यपि स्यात्सुदुर्लभम् । अन्धक उवाच । यदि यच्छसि मे ब्रह्मन्वरं मनसि वांछितम् । जरामरणनाशाय दीयतां सुरसत्तम
brahmovāca | parituṣṭo'smi te vatsa varaṃ varaya suvrata | tuṣṭo'haṃ te pradāsyāmi yadyapi syātsudurlabham | andhaka uvāca | yadi yacchasi me brahmanvaraṃ manasi vāṃchitam | jarāmaraṇanāśāya dīyatāṃ surasattama
Brahmā phán: “Hỡi con yêu, Ta rất hài lòng về con; ô người kiên định trong giới nguyện, hãy chọn một ân phúc. Ta đã mãn nguyện, Ta sẽ ban cho con, dẫu ân ấy cực kỳ khó được.” Andhaka thưa: “Nếu Ngài ban cho con, ô Brahman, ân phúc mà tâm con hằng ước nguyện, thì xin hãy ban ân để diệt trừ già nua và tử vong, ô bậc tối thượng trong hàng chư thiên.”
