Unspecified (listener addressing a ritual expert; immediately followed by Nārada speaking in next verse)
Listener: Nārada
Scene: A devotee performing various rites—japa, homa, scripture recitation—yet the scene shows a missing arghya to the rising Sun; the Sun’s presence dominates the sky, indicating that the rite remains incomplete until arghya is offered; then the devotee turns east with a water-vessel to complete it.
Daily worship is perfected by honoring Sūrya; neglecting arghya undermines the intended merit (puṇya) of one’s practice.
No single tīrtha is named in this verse; the focus is on the universal nitya-karma of offering arghya to Sūrya.
The necessity of Bhāskara-arghya is stated, and the listener requests the detailed vidhi (procedure).
