Như lễ Sandhyā không trọn vẹn nếu thiếu cỏ darbha, như nghi thức tarpaṇa không trọn nếu thiếu hạt mè, và như lễ homa không trọn nếu thiếu vật cúng—cũng vậy, mọi hành trì tôn giáo đều không trọn vẹn nếu thiếu Śiva.
