उत्तमानुत्तमानेव गच्छन्हीनांश्च वर्जयन् । ब्राह्मणः श्रेष्ठतामेति प्रत्यवाये न शूद्रताम्
uttamānuttamāneva gacchanhīnāṃśca varjayan | brāhmaṇaḥ śreṣṭhatāmeti pratyavāye na śūdratām
Vị brāhmaṇa chỉ kết giao với bậc ưu tú và ưu tú nhất, lại tránh kẻ thấp hèn, thì đạt đến địa vị tôn quý. Nhưng nếu sa vào hạnh trái nghịch, người ấy chẳng được thăng tiến—mà suy đọa xuống cảnh thấp kém.
