कर्मणा येन केशाः स्युः स्निग्धाः कुसुमवर्षिणः । नाकारि कर्णवेधोस्य जनित्रा समये शुभे
karmaṇā yena keśāḥ syuḥ snigdhāḥ kusumavarṣiṇaḥ | nākāri karṇavedhosya janitrā samaye śubhe
Đó là nghi lễ khiến mái tóc trở nên óng mượt và ‘rải hoa’—nghĩa là đem điềm lành và vẻ đẹp; vậy mà vào đúng thời cát tường, cha mẹ cậu không làm lễ karṇavedha (xỏ lỗ tai) cho cậu.
