Gotra–Pravara Inquiry and Proclamation of Auspicious Time
ब्रह्मोवाच । इत्युक्त्वा त्वं मुने ज्ञानी शिवेच्छाकार्यकारकः । प्रत्यवोचः पुनस्तं वै शैलेद्रं हर्षयन्गिरा
brahmovāca | ityuktvā tvaṃ mune jñānī śivecchākāryakārakaḥ | pratyavocaḥ punastaṃ vai śailedraṃ harṣayangirā
Brahmā nói: “Nói như thế xong, hỡi bậc hiền triết—người trí tuệ, kẻ hành động để hoàn thành công việc theo ý muốn của Śiva—ngài lại đáp lời vị chúa tể núi non ấy, khiến ông hoan hỷ bởi lời nói của ngài.”
Brahma
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
The verse highlights a key Shaiva principle: the wise devotee becomes an instrument of Śiva’s intention (śivecchā), using truthful, uplifting speech to support dharma and the unfolding of Śiva’s divine plan.
Though the verse is narrative, it reflects Saguna Śiva’s governance of events: devotees and sages participate in Śiva’s līlā by acting in harmony with His will—an attitude central to devotional worship offered to the Liṅga as the accessible form of the Supreme.
The practical takeaway is inner alignment with Śiva through japa and intention—e.g., repeating the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” and cultivating vāg-śuddhi (purity and benevolence of speech) as an offering to Śiva.
